How a turbo-supercharger is made
The appearance is standard by whoever it is produced, the shape is the same there and the principles of operation are the same. The only part that may differ is the wastegate valve toyota harrier singapore price.
The turbo-compressor consists of:
- a fan moved by the exhaust gases which is contained in a body (snail), usually made of cast iron and with the shape of a spiral – the turbine;
- a central body to support the bearings and to lubricate the axis that holds the two fans together;
- a second fan that sucks and compresses the air contained in a ‘spiral’ shaped aluminum body – compressor impeller.
This valve is the most important: diameter, inclination and height of the blades and the rotation speed in relation to each other create the operating field where the function and efficiency of the entire turbine will be carried out.
What is the wastegate valve?
This is a device that opens a valve and lets part of the burnt gases escape into the exhaust which would cause the turbine to spin too fast, pumping too much air and increasing the pressure too much.
The actuation of this valve can be mechanical, pneumatic or electronic, that is managed by a control unit and the regulation of the wastegate is usually foreseen to optimize its functioning. The valve can be positioned close to the scroll or placed on the exhaust manifold.
In addition to the two valves, there is another device that controls the boost pressure: the overboost, which can be mechanically or electronically controlled.
